June 23rd marks a major milestone in collegiate athletics. 50 years of Title IX. At ASU, it’s a celebration of all that we have accomplished and all those who have been positively impacted by the opportunities it has afforded them.
At ASU we celebrate 14 programs and over 300 female student-athletes who are champions in the classroom, on the field and in life. We celebrate the ever-expansiveness of our women’s programs with new additions such as Triathlon and Lacrosse. We celebrate the facilities we have been able to provide such as a brand-new home for beach volleyball or a multi-purpose arena to be utilized by our gymnastics team.
Amid the celebration, though, there is determination. While the progress has been tangible and undeniable, the inequity between female athletics and men’s still exists. We work every day to do our part in shrinking that divide and providing a top-class experience to our female student-athletes.
